Mother's Day at Las Iguanas

I thought I would do something different on my blog today, I took my camera along to dinner last night so here is my very first lifestyle post!
As it was Mother's Day yesterday, we went out for a meal to Las Iguanas. I LOVE Mexican food and I honestly don't think it's possible to get it wrong! I was most impressed by the fact that they had a whole separate menu for vegetarians and vegans which was fab because it meant that we had a lot more choice than in any other restaurant. For starters we got Mushroom Quesadillas (which were yum) and some garlic bread to share. I only got pictures of mine and my mum’s main, I got the Veg Chimichanga and my mum got the Veg Enchilada. For dessert we got the Berry Mexican Mess :) And seeing as it was happy hour whilst we were there, we got pitchers of the Red Mist cocktail. :)

NOTD: Avon Speed dry +

AVON SPEED DRY + IN 'STRAWBERRY'

This is the only Avon nail polish that I own but I LOVE it! I bought this one a couple of years ago when I was working for them but I never really liked pink nails on me until now!
This colour is a beautiful fuchsia pink which is deep enough to wear during the winter, but it is also a lovely spring/summer shade too. I think it goes well with my skin tone and makes my hands look finished.
This is the perfect polish for you if you are in a rush. The thick wand allows you to cover the whole nail with just one swipe, the formular is near enough opaque with just one coat (but I did do two) and it dries within minutes! The staying power is amazing too! On me, this typically lasts around 3-4 days without any chips whatsoever!

There are so many different shades as well which is amazing! And they're only £6 each or 2 for £8 here.

WHAT'S ON MY FACE

MAX FACTOR FALSE LASH EFFECT MASCARA
TOPSHOP LIPSTICK  IN 'INNOCENT'
BOURJOIS BLUSHER IN '16 ROSE COUP DE FOUDRE'
MAYBELLINE BROW DRAMA
LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURISER
SEVENTEEN PHWOARR PAINT

I thought I would do a quick post on my minimal everyday makeup look. This is actually what I wear to university. I like to keep things simple and fuss free and that extra 10 minutes in bed is so worth it! The thing I like about this makeup look is the fact that there isn’t much to it, and it gives that fresh-faced look, without looking like I just rolled out of bed.

For my base, I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. I love love love this! I’m not going to harp on about it too much because I have already done a separate post dedicated to it here, but it just gives the most amazing, natural finish.

Being of Asian ethnicity, I do have dark circles under my eyes which make me look all droopy and tired all the time, which is definitely not the best look for me, so I use the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint in ‘medium’ to cover up those bad boys and to make me look a little bit more awake! The consistency of this is really nice, once I have warmed it up between my fingertips, it applies like a dream and stays put all day without creasing.

Maybelline have recently upped their game with all things brow with their Brow Drama. It is a sculpting brow mascara which helps to keep your brows put all day. I got the shade ‘dark brown’, but it doesn’t give much colour but it just adds that something that just makes me look more put together.

I do have quite small eyes and with me wearing glasses, they look even smaller. Curling my lashes before applying mascara opens my eyes up and makes them look bigger. I don’t do this every day, but I definitely see a difference when I do!

I literally can’t go a day without mascara. Recently, I got back into using Max Factor False Lash Effect. The brush is so big which makes it so quick and easy to apply. It makes my lashes look super long and thick without a clump in sight!

The Bourjois Blush in ‘Rose Coup De Foudre’ is a really subtle pink blush with a gold shimmer running through it. I apply this over my cheeks to bring a little bit more life to my face. This colour goes so well with my skin tone and looks so natural and healthy.

I don’t wear lipstick every day, I usually reach for my Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm but if I wanted to add a bit of colour then I would reach for this Topshop lipstick in ‘Innocent’. It is such a nice delicate pink which is one of those ‘your lips but better’ colours and keeps my lips moisturised as well.

Sally Hansen: The Perfect Combo

It's no secret that I am slightly obsessed with all things nail related, but unfortunately this does mean that my nails are somewhat damaged from all of the chemicals and dyes that are in nail polish, and after having gels on for a while, my nails were well and truly ruined! So I decided to give Sally Hansen Hard as Nails as whirl to try to fix them. It claims to strengthen and protect the nails from chipping, splitting and breaking, and also is supposed to help them to grow stronger. I have to say, it does just that! I have noticed such a huge change in the appearance in my nails, and they look a lot healthier. It also evens out the surface of the nail and make applying nail polish so much easier.  The brush is the standard Sally Hansen brush which swipes over the nail with one stroke which means that it is quick and easy to use.

As an avid nail polish user, there was a time when I would do my nails every day without fail, but one thing that would annoy me was the fact that it would take so long to dry, and with me being so impatient I ended up smudging it half the time, which meant I had to start over again, therefore wasting SO MUCH TIME! I used to use the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, which literally dried in seconds, but I found that by the time I had used half of it, it had gone gloopy which was annoying, and so I thought I’d try out the Sally Hansen Insta Dry. It’s not the fasted drying top coat I’ve ever used but it’s not too bad! I’d say it takes a couple of minutes to be totally dry, but it gives such a nice super shiny finish and eve noticed that my nail polish doesn’t chip as much either with is a definite pro! It also has the same brush as Hard as Nails so I can’t really complain!
