Everyday Make up Brushes

I don't tend to wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis, I like to stick to my usual light base, spot of concealer, brows (obviously), a bit of bronze, some blush and a coating of mascara. This is my general everyday makeup, be it for work, or if I'm off out shopping, so these brushes are the ones that get used near enough every day.

Firstly, is the Real Techniques blush brush. I love this brush because it is so big and fluffy which makes applying blusher so quick and easy. The one I've been reaching for recently is Breezy by MAC.

To apply by base, I have moved away from the Real Techniques buffing brush recently, and towards the powder brush from Spectrum. This started when I went to get my makeup done at the Illamsqua counter in self ridges a couple of weeks ago and the lovely gent applied the Illamsqua skin base foundation - I've done a review on it here - with a powder brush. The result was amazing! So I went home and tried this with my other foundations, and I was not disappointed. I used smaller amounts and just kept adding more and my skin looked so flawless and airbrushed, without looking cakey. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to my previous ways!

The Real Techniques contour brush is next. I use this to buff in my concealer under my eyes and around my nose. I find that it is the perfect size and shape to get into the corners and it creates such a flawless cover.

The MAC 168 is a large angled contour brush, I use this to add a bit of colour to my face, and to generally warm things up a bit. My favourite bronzer at the moment is the NYC big bold bronzer, and I find that when applied with the 168, it literally takes seconds to apply, but looks like I have spent ages contouring!

And finally is the eyebrow brush from Spectrum. I love this brush because it is nice and small, so you can make small short brush strokes which makes your brows look so much more natural that using a thicker brush (like the real techniques one). Because this brush is quite small, you can build up the colour as well, so you don't end up with huuuuge drawn on brows.

Face Masks from The Body Shop

I have never met a girl who doesn't love a good pamper session. And a pamper session is never complete without a clay mask to draw out all of the impurities from your skin.

My two favourites have to be these from The Body Shop. Firstly, the Warming Mineral Mask. When you first apply it to wet skin, there is a slight warming sensation which I love! And the smell of eucalyptus is heavenly and so relaxing. The consistency is quite thick when you apply it, but it seems to go on smoothly. I usually use this once a week, I apply it and leave it for around 5 minutes and then just rinse it off. It leaved your skin feeling super clean and revitalised. I find that this mask is really good at absorbing any excess oils so is fab for those like me with oily skin, but would be suited to all skin types too.

The other one I have been using recently is the Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask. This one is slightly harsher on the skin so I tend to use this less often than the previous one, usually when my skin is feeling congested. I use this mask in those areas, leave for around 10 minutes, until it has dried, and then just rinse it off. It leaves my skin feeling so fresh and clean. It definitely draws out any impurities and is just so refreshing to use after a long week! I would definitely recommend this mask for times when you feel a spot coming along, the next morning, it's gone!

DIY's to Try #2

I do love DIY's and having little projects to do, so I have rounded up 6 DIY's that I definitely want to try in the next month or so. They all seem relatively easy, and could probably be weekend projects. Let me know if any of you have any good DIY's that you have tried or would like to try!
  1. Tea Box - This is super cute! I am addicted to tea, so this would be perfect for me, or to give as a gift!
  2. Washi your workspace - Personalise your workspace by adding washi tape! I like the idea of the keyboard and coasters.
  3. Tissue paper watercolour mugs - We literally have so many ceramic mugs in the house so it would be nice to spruce them up a bit.
  4. Send a care package - I love the idea of care packages, how personalised they are, I reeealllyy like the look of this biscuit one, or a bath/pamper one would be good too, complete with ribbons and a hand written note.
  5. Paper square lights - This one would be pretty time consuming, but looks so cool!
  6. Lights as photo line -  I have seen this on instagram a lot recently, and love the idea, I just need to decide where to put it!

5 Things: Favourite Nail Polish

I am totally into the muted nail thing right now. And these are my favourites! I love the look of a light nail on my skin colour, they make my hands looks so fresh and bright!

The first is from Beauty UK - I don't even remember buying this one - it is a lovely mid-muted grey which is perfect for this time of year. Next is Essie, Meet me at the Altar. It is a pastel pink with a slight shimmer running through it. This Ciate polish is from the Dolls House Collection and is a slightly darker version of Barry M, Lychee, but it is also matte! I actually prefer to wear this with a top coat to make it glossy. This Maybelline Super Stay polish has not left my fingertips recently. It is a muted bluey lilac and it just suits my skin tone so well! And finally, Nails Inc, Lowndes Square. This is still one of my favourites. I'm not going to go into too much detail as I have already done a full post over here.

Delicious Choc Chip Cookies

I made cookies again! I love cookies, I think they're so good either with your mid-afternoon cup of tea, or just before bed with milk, and when you warm them up in the microwave for like 15 seconds and they are so beautifully gooey... hmmmm

You will need:
  • 110g unsalted butter
  • 60g unrefined golden caster sugar
  • 110g plain flour
  • 15g cocoa powder
  • 100g milk (or white) chocolate chips
Firstly, preheat the oven to 180° C, and line two baking trays with greaseproof paper. Cream together the sugar and butter until it is nice and fluffy, then sieve in the flour and cocoa powder. Next just add in the chocolate chips, leaving some to put on top. Then divide the mixture and roll into little balls, and place on the baking trays. Flatten them slightly and press in the remaining chocolate chips. Bake in the oven for around 10 minutes, or until they are nicely golden brown. Remove and enjoy whilst still warm!
